During the Summer of 2024, from June to August, I had the privilege of being a communications intern for the Beaverton School District.
As a communications intern, I was tasked with taking photos and videos of school construction and events, editing those photos and videos, and then creating social media posts for hundreds of people to get information about ongoing updates within the school district.
This is the first video I created for the Beaverton School District. The goal was to make a video that gave an update about the construction of Beaverton High School. The process started with interviewing the construction project manager, during which I set up the camera and asked questions about various aspects of the school's construction.
After the interview, I toured the construction site, gathering as much footage as possible. I made sure to capture a variety of shots—wide, medium, and close-ups—while also focusing on different subjects to keep the visuals dynamic.
Once I had all the footage, I started the editing. I cleaned up the interview by cutting out my questions and any mistakes, then layered the video footage over it. The result was a polished video with compelling visuals and audio that effectively communicated the progress of the school's construction
This video was different from my previous one as I did not conduct the interview or shoot any of the video footage, so I had no control over the video footage I had meaning that what they gave me is what I had to work with, which constricted me a bit as it helps to take your own video footage with a story in mind.
Despite that though, again I was able to create another update video. Cleaning up the interview by cutting out the questions and mistakes, then layered the video footage over it.
